Hidetoshi Mito
Painter, calligrapher, and graphic designer. After winning the Grand Prix at the International Typography Annual in the 1990s, he held calligraphy exhibitions across Japan.
Since around 2010, he has been presenting works that are uniquely created by blending ink painting with digital technology, using motifs of Japan’s four seasons and flora.
In the spring of 2023, he published the book Hana no Ma Joh 1, which features a selection of over 1,000 paintings he has created to date. In the summer of 2024, Hana no Ma Joh 2 will be published.
He is also developing a Japanese-style goods brand called Hana no Ma, featuring floral motifs. In addition, he has published other works, including the calligraphy collection Shorin and the Design Calligraphy Manual.
He is the founder of the Mitografico Design Calligraphy Course, a member of the Typography Society, and an advisor for the Association of Design Calligraphy Artists. He resides in Tokyo.
